I do believe that Mr. Godfrey is referring to the original definition of geek, which I will only mention that involved chickens. On another note; has Philo been writing both comics? For a second there I thought that “this entire time” meant exclusively one. And is Philo your author avatar.
Mmmm,
According to Britannica and Google:-
It’s a 20th century term: – “Essentially, a geek was a socially undesirable person who lacked any skill or ability”
Someone who worked in a carnival that were so useless that their carnie audience attracting skills were limited to beheading live animals with their teeth
I came to ask about the same thing: namely, whether the reason geeks are “not something one discusses in decent society” is because they bite the heads off of chickens.

I would love to hear about the unseemly geek chicken thing. Let’s hear it!

How is it that there were enough people biting the heads off chickens that they earned a slang moniker?
We’re Americans. We’re quick to get rid of people.
P.S. My avatar is actually GRIM ROBOT… about whom no additional information is publicly available.

But why? Why were they biting the heads off chickens? What’s the appeal?
Shock value, presumably.
The X-Files had an episode about a town full of retired carnies that featured a geek. The Conundrum. He ate the villain.
Well, I can’t say as I disapprove.
Ooh! Number One!
The Prologue was First, but it’s not not Number One in my heart 😉
Well, it’s the prologue. It comes before #1. It says so right here in my list of the parts of a book.
