I know two Civil Engineers. “Literal” is the optimum word. “Tunnel Vision” might be more accurate. One asked me why video game dev would need artists (“Isn’t all that done programmatically?” was his question).
When in Engineering circles, I usually have to play the role of translator, or “Reality Touchstone” much like the Big Guy. At least HE seems a little more in tune with things… so far.
I did that too… back when I was The Art Director. I had to liaison between Code Monkeys and Art Monkeys. Though it was more like liaison between Stubborn Goats and Stray Cats.
You’d think the Engineering Team would be a little more grounded.
Then again, they work for this company.
Engineers are the ones who play D&D and speak Klingon. Now what was that about “grounded”?
